Hi Christian, TFO DC #4 was my favorite workhorse rod before Sage ONE 4wt came along. I love that rod because it can handle very wide grain window. I have casted with 235 grain all the way to 350 grain and it can handle it all very well. A friend of mine even tried 400 grain and he says it still cast good.
If you are doing Skagit, I will say go with 350 grain. If doing Scandi, I will say go with 235 grain Ambush. DC#4 is softer than Sage One 4wt so it handles smaller fish better but having said that, I have caught very big fish with DC#4. It has great butt power...very strong rod. If you go to my blogpost http://yuenmah.blogspot.jp/2013/07/pond-fishing-with-two-handed-rod.html You will see photos of fish I caught with Sage One 4 wt. Before I got the Sage One, I was catching the similar size fish with the DC#4.
Great clip.
ReplyDeleteI've given you a mention on my own blog Yuen.

Thanks Richard. Nice blog you have there. I will visit it more often.
DeleteHey Yuen. Do you have any experience with the TFO Deer Creek Switch #4? And if so, what kind of grain weight would you recommend for this rod?
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great blog and informative content.
